The University will give consideration to commercial brine mining operations when such operations are deemed to be in the best interests of the University.   All such operations will be conducted using environmentally sound practices with proper safeguards in place to adequately protect freshwater aquifers as well as preserve the surface from brine contamination.   A contract negotiated with University Lands is required for all brine mining operations.
